Where in the world?

Okay, to those of you who are wondering where I am actually going. Here is some information.

Japan is a series of islands, and I am going to a southern island named Kyushu. You can see it on this map. Also, you will see the city of Oita. I am actually in a part of Oita called Tsurusaki, but it is a suburb of Oita. (I apologize if this map is hard to see. I reccommend saving it to your computer and then opening it in a larger view.)

Tsurusaki has about 70,000 people. Oita city has about 440,000 people. The island of Kyushu is really mountainous and is known for it's natural beauty. The town of Beppu (near Oita) is world famous for it's hot springs. Shawn and I will definitely be going there from time to time! We are a ferry ride from South Korea and about the same latitude as the Mediterranean nations. So when we get there it will be HOT and HUMID. Not looking forward to that, I must confess. If you are interested in learning more about Oita you can check out this website:

Now that we have that all cleared up! Shawn and I are living in the same apartment which is glorious! We are living on the 5th floor that has a YakiTori restaurant on the ground floor. YakiTori means literally BBQ Chicken, but it is a ramen shop. The funny thing is that it says "Tori" right on the front! I guess it is fate, who else gets a large sign of their name in front of their building? True, Tori means 'chicken', but I like to remember it also means 'bird'. These are the characters that mean "tori" - とり

I'll post more pictures of our apartment when we get there! Time for some sleep, we have a killer garage sale tomorrow and then time to really get ready!

Thanks for reading.
